Good choice. It has a longer head length which allows for working the line with longer presentations. It's a very good all around line.

You should also take a look at the Scientific Angler's Nymph line. It is designed to cast heavy nymph rigs with strike indicators.

Davy,I'm fairly well read.  However, I've never heard of cutting off the front taper of a fly line for nymph fishing purposes.  Does this not make the line unusable for anything else?

Thanks everyone.  I purchased the Rio Gold and fished it today on the Little Missouri. This is the best line I've ever cast. It seems able to do everything well.  Great choice!!

Brian and John... one question... Why RIO Gold vs. RIO Grand for this rod? I agree these TWO are the best lines I've ever fished, but I think you match it to the rod and fishing style.

I agree with Terry. I fished a Sharkskin WF5 for a few hours, and while I thought it was a pretty good line, it's just NOT worth a hundred bucks, in my opinion. But I really like the Hook and Hackle...
